Vision
Recover tyres,
stop waste
End-of-life tyres are one of the world's largest and most difficult waste streams. Despite containing valuable rubber, carbon black and other materials, much of this value is lost through downcycling or thermal processing rather than being returned to new products.
The problem
1.5B
tyres reach end-of-life each year.
46%
are incinerated.
2%
of all global waste is end-of-life tyres.
The case for rubber recycling
Rubber and tyres represent a major source of carbon dioxide emissions and environmental impact.
Emissions arise across the full lifecycle, from deforestation associated with natural rubber production and petrochemical extraction need for synthetic rubber; through energy-intensive manufacturing, transport, and end-of-life disposal.
Globally, the rubber sector is responsible for an estimated 198 Mt CO₂e per year.
By recovering and devulcanising waste rubber, IonTerra Labs enables replacement of virgin materials, reducing demand for both natural and synthetic rubber, while preventing carbon-intensive disposal routes such as illegal tyre burning.
Each tonne of devulcanised rubber is estimated to avoid ~5.84 t CO₂e, creating a scalable pathway to decarbonise one of the world's largest material value chains.
Need for Change
40% recycled by 2030
Major manufacturers have committed to increasing their use of recycled rubber in their products, aiming to reach 40% recycled content by 2030.
